When most people think of professional organizers, they picture them working their magic in spaces like closets, pantries, and offices, but there are so many areas that can be organized! Here are 5 extra areas that I can help with on your organizational journey!
1. Digital Files. Digital spaces can often become more cluttered and incoherent than physical ones, because it doesn’t get in your way and trip you up the way physical items do, so you don’t feel the same urgency to deal with it. But how long does it take you to search for a specific file? And how cluttered is your computer’s desktop with folders and files? It can be overwhelming to get started, but it is something that you want to get a handle on now before your computer crashes and everything is lost! When helping clients deal with their digital files, we go through each one and decide its relevancy, and file items away so that they are easy to find and searchable by name. We will make sure to back up important documents onto your cloud storage and/or an external hard drive so you can push those worries away and get back to what matters to you!
2. Email Inbox. Like digital files, your email inbox can accumulate so much clutter and get to the point where you have thousands of unread emails!! Does this sound like your inbox? How can you sift through to find the ones that are actually important? Have you thought about the environmental impact of your emails? All emails that are sitting in your inbox and folders are backed up to the cloud, which is powered by electricity, fueled by fossil fuels (read more about that here). Ignoring those emails so that they keep piling up can have a huge environmental impact! So, why don’t we get started getting your email inbox sorted out? We will go through and decide on the importance of each one, file them away in appropriate folders so you can easily reference them and unsubscribe/delete all those obsolete ones! Once you have a fresh start, it will be so much easier to maintain and keep your inbox clear of irrelevant content.
3. Storage Lockers. The only appropriate time to have a storage locker is when you are in transition – moving, renovations etc. The purpose of a storage locker is to be temporary storage, not something that you pay thousands of dollars a year to store stuff you never look at! Do you have a storage locker? Do you know what is in there? When you hire me to get your storage locker organized, that means we will go through everything, sort, move things back into your home (where I will help you make the space for them), and often purge a lot of unnecessary items! Think about it: is the stuff in there worth the thousands of dollars a year you’re storing them for?
4. Photographs. Whether you have a collection of physical or digital photographs, we can get them organized and saved in a manner that preserves them! Physical photos need certain conditions to remain intact, and they should always have a digital backup in case of a floor or fire. Precious memories need special storage and safe-keeping! We can get those photos digitized and filed away onto your cloud and/or external hard drive, and combine them with your digital photos so all of it is together. Wouldn’t it be fantastic to get your photos into folders so you can search by chronology or theme, so yourself and future generations can enjoy them?
5. Retail/Corporate Spaces. In addition to home offices of small businesses, I have also helped in different non-profit and retail spaces to get them organized to be more efficient! Think about it: in a space where there are multiple employees or volunteers, you need to have things organized in a certain way that works for everyone! This means a lot of labels to make things very clear, having things at appropriate heights that makes them accessible to everyone, and easy to put things back so it doesn’t get messy again. Can you think of a non-profit or corporate space that could use a little help organizing?
What did you think of this list? Were you surprised by some of these areas? There are many more unique spaces, some of which I haven’t helped with YET. But I am open to organizing anything! Get in touch with me today to get started on your journey.
